A DAM Nicholson’s firsthalf goal was enough to earn Stockton Town victory against Shildon in front of a record crowd of 1,208.
Liam Cooke provided the cross for Nicholson, who headed back across goal and into the far corner of the net to break the deadlock after 18 minutes.
On the half-hour mark, the hosts went close to scoring a second. Dan McWilliams found Mikey Roberts, who played a neat one-two with Cooke before seeing his effort saved.
