■ THIS game proved to be a great advertisement for the Northern Premier League with both teams giving 100 per cent. A large crowd of 604 saw a powerful Leek Town side beat nine-man Clitheroe.
It was the home team who began to dominate play early on and Leek Town took the lead with Jack Wakefi eld scoring with a fi ne strike.
In the fi nal minutes of the half Clitheroe captain Billy Priestly was sent off for dissent. In the second period, it was all Leek who scored four more goals as they dominated a Clitheroe team who in the fi nal minutes had Jack Burrows also s...
