■ WIDNES gave their survival hopes a real shot in the arm with a win over high-flyers Mossley.
Michael Ellison’s side proved to be the coupon buster on the day as they moved to within four points of the relegation play-off places and to within six of safety. They made the perfect start when Stephen Rigby drove home from the edge of the D after Kai Shorrock’s cross was only half-cleared.
