CABLES narrowly edged Newcastle in a dour encounter, thanks to an early goal.
It took just four minutes for the hosts to take the lead, with Jack Goodwin advancing down the left and playing a low ball in towards the box, where Francis Smith pounced and fired the ball home.
Less than ten minutes later, Kyle Sambor hoped to double his side’s lead as he utilised his pace and met a long ball, driving into the box, but going down dubiously in the box, failing to amuse the referee.
