Smith’s career ends in flourish

IT was the perfect finish to Danny Grainger’s reign as Workington manager – and the final game for defender Sam Smith.
And it was Smith, one of three senior players to announce his retirement, who headed the winner in the first minute of time added on.
He and both Conor Tinnion and Scott Allison are ending distinguished careers with the club, while Grainger is leaving after his second spell of two years in charge.
