boss Garry Flitcroft signed a new two-year contract over the weekend and says his Magpies have a great chance of winning promotion to the Conference before that deal expires.

The former Manchester City midfielder is in his third season at the Chorley helm and has enjoyed great success while at Victory Park, leading the club to promotion in his first season and to a third-place finish last season.

Chorley are currently just two points off a play-off place in the Northern Premier Division and have picked up 22 points from a possible 24 in their last eight games.

Garry FlitcroftFlitcroft hopes that form will continue and seal the Magpies a top-five finish but says he’s delighted to continue as their manager regardless.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “I’m really loving my time here so when the board approached me about signing a contract, it was an easy decision to make.

“We’re on a fantastic run at the moment and I’m really excited by the potential of this squad.

“The lads have worked extremely hard to put themselves in contention for the play-offs and I firmly believe we are good enough to go up. We’ve just got to keep winning and see where it takes us.

“But whatever happens over the next few weeks, I know we’ll be a force to be reckoned with next season, whatever league we end up in.”
