Football can teach the true meaning of ‘woke’

RUSSELL David’s strong attack on “wokeness” (Fans’ Forum, March 2), according to his definition, is both inaccurate and insulting to those who don’t share his views.
A big part of the problem here is that the term “woke” is used to discredit those who hold a different view over a wide range of issues, and as a poor substitute for informed discussion and intellectual analysis.
