■ EMLEY kept up with the leading pack after securing a fine victory over Ashington at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.
Manasse Mampala opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when he sent a rocket beyond visiting goalkeeper Tyler Jones.
Ten minutes before the interval, the lead was doubled, as captain Chris Dawson matched Mampala with an equally powerful strike to end a solid team move. In the 54th minute, an agonising moment came with Joe Stacey firing a fantastic effort onto the post.
