NICKY Walker’s strike six minutes after half-time exemplified his starring individual display as Cleethorpes held firm to claim victory, denting FC United’s promotion hopes.
On a tricky surface surviving an early pitch inspection, the hosts had the far better opening half. Town seized the initiative in the 19th minute.
There appeared to be little danger for the United rearguard but great persistence down the right flank created a chance, which Bailey Conway finished with aplomb.
