WILL Dowling’s penalty and a Dom Martins strike ensured Morpeth Town were deserved 2-0 winners over fellow strugglers Prescot Cables.
Aaron Chungh curled the ball, aiming for the top corner, but missed by a fraction and saw it fizz over the crossbar as the hosts threatened early.
They got their reward on 23 minutes after a needless foul in the box, with Dowling calmly slot-ting home from 12 yards.
A corner in the 39th minute sparked brief panic in the Morpeth box, only for the chance to fizzle out tamely.
