■ TWO GOALS before the break pulled Bishop Auckland out of the relegation zone and put the brakes on Heaton Stannington’s play-off ambitions.
Liam Potter headed on to the roof of the net and James Harrison and Liam Jarvie were denied by Alfie Gordon in one-on-ones. Bishops’ dominance was rewarded after 35 minutes when a cross from the right saw Vinnie Steels get ahead of his marker to send the ball looping into the net.
