■ AVRO’S aim for top spot gathered momentum after a comfortable victory over Atherton.
The hosts came out of the blocks the quickest with a flurry of early chances with Taylor Dyson’s corner flicked in at the near post by centre half Jack Kenny.
They doubled their lead soon afterwards through Jim Simms’ close-range finish.
Avro seemed to have control of the game, but a reckless challenge from Kenny gave Atherton skipper Sam Sheridan the chance to try his luck from the free kick.
