The visitors took an early lead, as Andrew Buah received the ball inside the box, and he composed himself to convert from close range.
The Gladiators looked to hit back before half-time, but Keke Jeffers effort was saved by Tommy Brown.
Five minutes after the break, Matlock drew level as Zak Goodson chipped an effort over Brown.
