AFC Rushden & Diamonds are hoping to raise money for injured Jack Ashton who requires an operation following an injury in pre-season.

The popular defender injured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament during the friendly at Enfield and has now been told work must be done.

Ashton initially played on with the injury during the early weeks of the season but has decided to have the operation now so he can return to full fitness as soon as possible.

The surgery is set to cost £2,000 and Diamonds are hoping to assist Ashton by raising money. There will be a bucket collection at the Southern Central game against Egham on Saturday and they are also taking online donations with £264 already raised.

Ashton has been a key played for Diamonds as they surge back up the Non-League Pyramid and if you would like to help out, you can donate via the online club shop.
