ALLAN GOUGH and Chris Burns have been confirmed as Cinderford Town’s new joint-bosses, replacing John Brough.

Brough quit the club following the decision not to take promotion after winning the Evo-Stik League Southern South & West.

However, the Foresters have moved quickly to replace him and ensure they are ready for the new season at Step 4.

Ex-Shortwood United boss Gough, who served as physio last season under Brough, will be joined in the dugout by Burns who previously spent a spell as Cinderford manager.

Both men are former Cinderford players and interim chairman Stuart Tait is hoping their local connections will prove to be key.

Tait said: “I’m delighted that Allan has decided to take the mantle on with Chris. He’s doing it for the benefit of the club and knows the club’s situation. It’s nice to see a member of our previous management team stay with the club.

“The main benefit they both bring is local experience of Gloucestershire. The fans know them well and they have a great football pedigree.

“They’ve already begun building a squad for the new season. They are the ideal people to come in and steady the ship at what is a hard time for the club.”
