PAULTON won in difficult conditions against a spirited Basingstoke side.
Rovers went ahead on 11 minutes as Ryan Gay headed home Ed Butcher’s inswinging free-kick.
Aaron Kuhl tried a dipping drive which Paulton keeper Joe Perry did well to turn over the crossbar.
After a spell of pressure Rovers made it 2-0 as Ben Bament converted from the spot after Butcher was brought down in the box.
