THE Whites ended a run of two consecutive defeats with a hardearned win over an improved Hendon outfit. In the early stages, with both sides trying to play football, the game was something of a chess match but was badly in need of a goal. That arrived two minutes before the break when Lewis Benson fired a swirling freekick from wide on the left into the danger area where Jake Wannell sent a glancing header across Hendon keeper Rihards Matervics and into the corner.
