■ A RENE Howe goal was enough to give Bedford a narrow win over Welwyn Garden City.
It was the hosts who had the best of the chances in the first half, with Howe, Connor Tomlinson and Drew Richardson all firing wide throughout a busy first period.
Shortly after half-time, and the Eagles took the lead when Howe out-muscled former Eagle Carl Mensah and nipped in between him and Charlie Crowley to poke home.
