JAY Malshanskyi struck early as Melksham Town put an end to their disappointing start to their campaign.
Promoted Tavistock went into the game with a flawless start, while their opponents had struggled to get their season going with two defeats.
But it was the team that lay at the bottom of the table which started the game brightest, scoring four minutes in.
Sam Hendy collected the ball to fire in a cross that was converted by Malshanskyi. The goal scorer could have doubled the lead seven minutes later if not for a denial by Alfie Burnett.
