Chalfont St Peter Hit By Huge Points Penalty

chalfont-st-peter

SOUTHERN LEAGUE club Chalfont St Peter have been deducted 15 points for fielding an ineligible player.

The player in question joined the Central Division club at the back end of last year before moving to another Southern League side in January.

When his January move was processed it became apparent that his registration form with Chalfont was filled in incorrectly.

Saints picked up 15 points from games the player was involved in and have now had those points taking away in accordance with league rules.

Speaking about the points deduction, Chalfont chairman Denis Mair said: “It is a regret that an off-field failure should have such an impact.

“Our apologies go to the players who have performed so wonderfully this season and to the supporters who have followed them. We now look forward to a strong finish to the season.”

The deduction sees the Saints fall four places in the league from 12th to 16th.
