CORBY TOWN are in search of a new manager after Chris Plummer resigned on Tuesday evening.
Plummer quit Steel Park after seeing his side hammered 6-0 by Hemel Hempstead – their second heavy defeat in four days following a 3-0 loss to Burnahm on Saturday.
Speaking about Plummer’s departure and the situation it leaves the club in, chairman Kevin Ingram said: “Chris is a gentleman and is very proud about everything he does and he knows that our performances are simply not good enough.
“To lose a manager after just two games of the new season is clearly not a good strategy. However, we will pick ourselves up and get on with it.
“In the interim, I have asked Mark Peters to take charge of team affairs until after Monday’s game against Hinckley.
“Gerry Reilly and I will be sitting down over the next few days to determine a course of action and we will make the right decision in the best interest of the football club. We will not be rushed as clearly this is now a massive decision.
“I would encourage all Corby Town supporters, as difficult as it is, not to be negative. We all know that this has not been good enough and we must improve and believe me the players are devastated after the opening two results.
“The best way to help the club is to turn up and get behind the team and the next opportunity to do so will be on Monday against Hinckley.”
