RUSHDEN EDGE TO THE TITLE

TABLE-TOPPERS AFC Rushden & Diamonds took another step towards the title with a 2-0 victory away to Barton Rovers, thanks to second-half goals from Tom Lorraine and Jack Ashton.
Diamonds were first into their stride and, in the 16th minute, Ben Farrell headed goalwards from a right-wing cross but Barton goalkeeper Matt Finlay saved smartly at his right-hand post.
The visitors were bossing possession and once again Finlay came to Rovers’ rescue when he blocked a point-blank effort from Lorraine in the 32nd minute.
