THE original Rushden & Diamonds once represented the ultimate fairytale story of a club powering through the Non-League pyramid.
After their founding in 1992, the Northamptonshire side surged to the Conference in just four years, before eventually reaching the Football League in 2001. Unfortunately, the Diamonds’ fall came just as quickly as their rise and four years later, mired by off-field instability, Rushden toppled back into Non-League.
