TOM Greaves clambered off the floor to blast home a decisive 12th-minute penalty to settle this encounter.
The hosts dominated the early exchanges and created several good chances, with Adam Priestley firing home effort against the post and another just wide.
But the only goal came through Greaves, who, after muddying his shorts, kept calm to beat Charles Price with the resulting spot-kick.
Gresley began to get more into the game towards the interval but hosts Ossett still looked the more likely team to score.
