■ A GOAL on his full debut from Tom Jones was enough to secure three vital points for Newcastle Town as they climbed away from the relegation places at the expense of promotion chasing Runcorn Linnets.
The only goal of the game came after the half-hour mark as Jake Avery won possession near the byline in the Runcorn penalty box and pulled the ball back for Jones who had a simple tap-in.
Runcorn had a lot more of the play in the second half but the closest they came was when Will Saxon was brought down by Castle keeper Joe Slinn...
