PERSISTENCE paid off for Berkhamsted as they broke the resistance of Kidlington and moved four points clear at the summit.
They appeared on course for a comfortable victory when Luke Andrews directed JJ Lacey’s cross from the left past goalkeeper Henry Woodcock.
Charlie Bacon’s neat finish restored parity after half an hour, and Berko only edged in front again after 73 minutes when Andrews headed in at the back post from Adam Watkins’ cross.
