■ NEWTON AYCLIFFE’S play-off hopes took a knock when lower ranked Stocksbridge Park Steels took all three points at a wet Ashcourt Stadium.
The home side took the lead when forward Liam Jarvie fired low past Ben Townsend in the 26th minute.
The visitors made it 1-1on the stroke of half-time when James Morris equalised at close range.
In the 52nd minute Townsend saved a penalty from Aycliffe’s Dean Thexton. It was a slow contest until Luke Rawson chipped Jim Pollard from range to make it 2-1to the visitors.
