■ HADLEY welcomed much-fancied Hertfordshire rivals Hitchin Town to Brickfield Lane for their season opener and a large crowd of just under 300 saw the visitors run out comfortable winners.
The only chance of the first half fell to Hadley’s Lenny Asamoah, but his angled drive was well kept out by an outstretched hand of Josh Bowler.
Hitchin deservedly went ahead ten minutes into the second half when Taylor Rhiney smashed home a miscued clearance from the edge of the box.
