■ CONSETT laid their Brighouse bogey to rest with an first-half display which blew the visitors away.
Brighouse had won all three previous visits to Belle View, but never looked like repeating the feat. The Steelmen went ahead after four minutes when Donny Holdsworth beat the keeper to a through ball, and set up Isaac Walker to sidefoot in.
Consett doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Calvin Smith’s cross fell to Matty Todd, and the teenager finished at the back post.
