■ IT WAS a stalemate at the Simarco Stadium between two sides who cancelled each other out.
There was no shortage of effort but on an afternoon where there was a lot more perspiration than inspiration, there was little to keep the crowd entertained.
Witham started well and Isaac Skubich shot wide.
As the first half progressed the Cambridge midfield became more influential. The home defence was wary of the threat posed by Cambridge’s George Smith.
Witham goalkeeper Billy Lawlor saved well from Joseph Boachie after 60 minutes.
