■ EUGENE Asike’s firsthalf winner handed Hastings a narrow win over Jersey.
It was Hastings who adapted better to the early kick-off – a rarity at the Pilot Field – with a handful of early chances.
The goal came from a corner that Jersey didn’t clear and it was Asike who reacted the quickest to the loose ball and smashed it home. Hastings took the one goal lead into the second half where it was Jersey’s turn to be in top.
