Our clubs are suffering from cup congestion

I AM writing to highlight a major financial headache currently facing many clubs across the pyramid: fixture disruption caused by back-to-back cup competitions from the start of the season.

The early rounds of the FA Cup and FA Trophy have been scheduled every Saturday for 12 of the first 13 weeks of the season between August 8 and November 7. Woe betide any club who is successful in both competitions, unless they are lucky enough to keep getting home draws!
