Jon Meakes renews partnership with Andy Leese as he joins Walthamstow!

Andy Leese is back in the manager’s dugout at Walthamstow – and has renewed his successful partnership with co-boss Jon Meakes.

The pair are back working together after a trophy-laden spell at Chesham United, followed by six glory years at Enfield Town.

Since starting his managerial career 25 years ago with Somersett Ambury, Leese, 62, led Chesham to the Isthmian Division Two and then Division One North play-offs before linking up with Meakes for the first time at Cheshunt.

History

After spells at Boreham Wood and Potters Bar, the pair spent ten years at Chesham United, reaching the first round of the FA Cup twice, winning three county cups, and achieving top six finishes in eight of their ten seasons.

Leese and Meakes then spent six years at Enfield Town, securing multiple play-off finishes with the Towners and winning the Isthmian League Cup. He was most recently with Hayes and Yeading United, who he guided to a sixth-placed finish last season.

In over 40 years’ experience as a player, manager and coach, Meakes has singularly taken charge of St Albans and Chesham and was most recently assistant manager with the Saints.

The pair take over a Walthamstow side, 17th in Isthmian North, having parted ways with Vinny Murphy and Colin Reid.
