Match Preview: Brighouse Town v Carlton Town (Saturday, 3pm)

Carlton Town visit Brighouse Town on Saturday on the back of six consecutive wins in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

It means Carlton have picked up the maximum 18 points from their last six games, and they face a Brighouse side who have lost their last seven matches, and collected no points from the last possible 18.

Brighouse are bottom of the table after 34 games, of which they have won seven and drawn nine, earning 30 points.

Carlton are 16 places ahead of Brighouse Town in fourth, with 20 wins and one draw putting them on 61 points.

With 44 goals in 34 games so far this season, the home team are scoring at below the league average rate with 1.3 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 72 goals at a rate of 2.1 per game.

Carlton Town, meanwhile, are above average scorers, with 1.7 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.5. They have conceded 1.3 goals per game.

In the last three years, Brighouse and Carlton have played each other on three occasions. Brighouse won two of them and Carlton one.

Their last meeting was on November 18, when Carlton won 3-0 at home.

Brighouse’s last match was on April 20, a 3-0 loss against Stockton Town.

Carlton beat Consett 2-1 last time out, also on April 20.
