SKARZ TO STEP UP AS BOSS

FORMER captain Joe Skarz has been appointed head coach of Northern Counties East Premier club Golcar United following the resignations of brothers Ashley and Gavin Connor, who had been joint managers for almost 12 years.
Defender Skarz, 35, has also played for Huddersfield Town, Bury, Oxford United and Rotherham United, where he has recently been first team development coach.
Skarz said: “It’s a club I’ve got a real affiliation to.”
