TORQUAY UNITED player-boss Kevin Nicholson reckons striker Nathan Blissett is starting to look like the “real deal” with the Gulls.

The big forward netted twice on Tuesday night as Torquay made it three league wins in a row with a 2-1 victory at Macclesfield Town to move within five points of National League safety.

Nicholson’s side haven’t lost since the end of January heading into Saturday’s game at home to bottom club Kidderminster Harriers.

Blissett, 25, made his name with Kiddy before moving to Bristol Rovers and helping the Gas to promotion to League Two last season.

He spent brief loan spells with Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City earlier this term but joined the Gulls in January after being released by Rovers and he has started to flourish.

After the win at Macclesfield, Nicholson told the BBC: “Bliss was an animal. He got a bit of luck for his second goal, but if you throw yourself in there like he’s done, those are the bits of luck that you get. With his first goal, he’s chased down something, he’s bullied the goalkeeper and he’s got his reward

“He’s gone from his first couple of games where he’s finding his feet, to all of a sudden looking like the real deal.”
