Wrexham skipper Connor Jennings signs for Tranmere Rovers

PROMOTION has to be the aim for Tranmere Rovers next season according to new signing Connor Jennings following his move from rivals .

The 24-year-old forward was named the Red Dragons' player of the season after netting 14 times in 45 appearances for the Racecourse outfit.

The Wrexham skipper was offered a new deal by boss but he has opted to leave and sign for Tranmere Rovers on a two-year deal.

Jennings started his career at before his impressive performances earned him a move to in 2012.

He struggled to break into the Iron's first team, however, and spent time on loan at Stockport County, and Grimsby before moving permanently to Wrexham in July 2014.

Following two seasons in north Wales, Jennings will be turning out for Tranmere and the ex- man is aiming high.

Jennings told Tranmere's website: “I share the same ambitions as everyone connected with the club so I'm looking forward to it and hopeful that it'll be a successful year coming up.

“The main aim is to get promoted and get the club back into the League. That's where the club belongs so hopefully we can make that happen.

“I'm looking forward to getting started. There's only so much time you can have off before you get bored. I can't wait to meet the rest of the players and get going. I hope it will be a great and successful year for the club.”

Boss Gary Brabin added: “Connor is technically very good, he's quick and he has plenty of experience and a good record at this level. At 24, he is coming into his peak years and I believe he will be a real asset to the club.”

Meanwhile, Tranmere have also confirmed that defender Michael Ihiekwe and midfielder Steven Jennings have signed new one-year deals at Prenton Park.
