MIDFIELDER Franklyn Clarke has made the jump from Step 3 to the National League after signing a one-year deal with York City.
The 23-year-old, whose deal includes an option for a further 12 months, impressed Minstermen boss Jackie McNamara during a two-week trial period.
He spent the remainder of last season with the Magpies, helping them to 13th in the league, before impressing at York.
Clarke told the club’s website: “I’m absolutely delighted, to sign a professional contract is all I’ve ever wanted to do. I’ve been here for the past two weeks and I’ve loved coming in every day.
“I’ve just been trying my best and thankfully it’s been good enough. I’ve only played Non-League properly for two years but the gaffer has given me a chance and I’ll just keep working hard and trying to impress.”
