Grecian Bergqvist Borrowed By Welling United

WELLING UNITED have signed Exeter City defender Doug Bergqvist on a loan deal running until January.

Bergqvist only joined Exeter from Aldershot last week and was unlikely to break straight into their first-team plans.

That, plus financial restrictions for the Grecians, have resulted in him being sent to Park View Road to get games under his belt during the first half of the season.

The 20-year-old Swede spent time with Reading and QPR as a youngster before moving to Aldershot in 2010.

Since then he has spent loan spells with Non-League clubs Thatcham, Dorchester, Farnborough, Basingstoke and Staines.

Commenting on Bergqvist’s latest loan, Exeter boss Paul Tisdale said: “He won’t be available to us until January – that arrangement was made over the weekend when we were completing the signing.

“It seems a sensible thing to do – it gives us an opportunity for him to join us in January potentially, whilst playing some Conference football along the way.
