Hereford chairman Jon Hale targeting more progress

chairman Jon Hale insists the club must not rest on their laurels and continue to push forward both on and off the pitch – with a League return the ultimate goal.

The club, born from the ashes of Hereford United who were wound-up last December, have enjoyed a fine debut season in the Midland Football League Premier.

Peter Beadle's side are six points clear at the top of the league and have won all of their last 21 games in all competitions.

Local businessman Hale says the long-term aim is to return to the Football League and reckons the club must continue to work hard to ensure success on and off the pitch.

He said: “The whole football club feels very vibrant. The traders are happy, the county is happy and the wider community is happy – we want to move forward.

“We must never lose sight of the ambition to get back to the Football League. It might take us a long time but if this momentum and support stays with us, the journey may not be as long as we expect it to be.

“We need everyone to stay on side. The club has to be sustainable and one day we will be back in the Football League – I am absolutely certain of that.”

Hale is also hoping to extend the Bulls' current five-year lease on the historic Edgar to enable them to improve the match-day experience further.

“Every game that we come to, we can't help but look around and admire what has gone on over the past six months,” he said.

“People tell me that it's the happiest they've seen Edgar Street in decades and it's nice that we can enjoy the football and enjoy being here.

“The appetite in Herefordshire and the wider community for this football club is incredible and something we have to embrace.

“Moving forward, there are projects we'd like to embark on but they don't make sense with such a short lease. We want to stay here and achieve an extension to the lease – we will hopefully be speaking to the council in the near future.”
