Dorset Premier League

HOLT UNITED extended their lead at the top of the league by beating Cranborne 2-1 away from home.

Their victory, coupled with second-placed Portland United’s defeat at Parley Sports, means Holt are now four points clear at the top.

However, Portland, who blew a 2-0 half-time lead to eventually go down 3-2, have three games in hand of their title rivals.

Wincanton Town occupy the final place in the top three after hammering Hamworthy United Reserves 5-1.

Reynold Turnock converted two penalties, while Andy Mitchell, Michael Taylor and David O’Hare also netted for Wincanton.

Chickerell United moved up into the top four with a 3-2 victory over Merley Cobham Sports.

The Chickens’ marksmen were Daniel Austin, Sean Stewart and Steve Churchill, while on the scoresheet for the Sports were Kabba Jack and Joshua Reavenall-Nuete.

Weymouth Reserves kept up their good league form when they returned with maximum points from their visit to Poole Borough.

Simon Crouch bagged a brace and Sanchez Jansz-Baker was also on target for Weymouth, while Aarron Merredew scored the consolation for Poole.

Blandford United’s inconsistent season continued when they lost 3-2 to Wareham Rangers.

They found themselves 2-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Luke Crane and Dan Vator but second-half strikes from Michael Antrobus, Daniel Godwin and Michael White gave Wareham victory.
