GARETH PALMER and Rob Masefield have stepped down from their managerial positions at Heather St John’s.

Manager Palmer and his assistant Masefield quit the Midland Alliance club on Tuesday following a 2-0 defeat at home to bottom club Ellesmere Rangers.

The defeat was the Saints’ sixth in eight games and leaves them 15th in the league.

Former joint-manager Andy Gray, who helped lead the club to promotion from the Midland Combination in 2010/11, takes over as the club’s new boss.
