WREXHAM have handed teenage goalkeeper Andy Coughlin a one-year contract.

The 19-year-old has spent the past two weeks training with the Blue Square Bet Premier club and has done enough to earn a deal at the Racecourse Ground.

Coughlin, formerly of Tranmere Rovers, will serve as back up to Joslain Mayebi and Wrexham boss Andy Morrell says it will be down to the youngster to challenge the club’s first choice stopper.

Morrell told the club’s website: “He’s a big lad who seems to have improved during his time with us.

“We like what we have seen of him and I’m very happy that he has agreed to sign up for the coming season.

“I have re-assured him that while Jossy is our number one, he will be given an opportunity should Jossy’s form drop.

“So he has to work hard in training everyday and push Jossy all the way.”
