WOKING have been dealt a massive blow after finding out star striker Scott Rendell will miss the whole of the season through injury.

The 28-year-old joined the Cards from Luton in January 2014 and has become a key player for Garry Hill’s men.

He scored 24 times last season as Woking finished an impressive seventh in the Conference but they will have to make do without their talisman for the rest of the campaign.

The forward was taken off during the Cards’ opening day defeat at fancied Tranmere Rovers after a robust 50-50 challenge.

Unfortunately for Rendell and the club, the suspected knee damage will require surgery and means a very premature end to the striker’s campaign.

“Woking Football Club can confirm that the injury received by Scott Rendell during the first half of Saturday’s match at Tranmere Rovers will necessitate immediate surgery,” a club statement read. “Scott will unfortunately miss the remainder of this season.

“Our thoughts are with Scott at this time, everybody at Woking Football Club wishes Scott a full recovery and hopes it won’t be too long before we see him back in a Woking shirt.”
