STRUGGLING Evo-Stik NPL Premier side Stamford have parted company with manager David Staff.

Staff left the Daniels after Monday night’s heavy 7-1 defeat at Hyde United with the club saying the two parties left after “amicable talks about the future”.

A former Stamford player, Staff enjoyed four caretaker spells in charge before he and Wayne Hatswell led the club to promotion from the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South.

The Daniels have remained at Step 3 for the past three seasons but Staff has paid for a slow start to the season, shipping a whopping 35 goals in nine games to leave them fourth bottom.

Stamford chairman Bob Feetham said: “It is the right decision at this time but it has been enormously difficult to make.

“I have worked with several managers and none have matched Staffy’s loyalty or integrity. All of us at the club wish him well for the future.

“He has done a real job for us on more than one occasion – and will no doubt do likewise in any future football venture.”
