STAMFORD are looking for their third manager of the season after sacking Andew Wilson just ten games into his reign.

Wilson replaced David Staff at the Daniels in September but he won just one of his ten games in charge, losing seven.

The poor recent form has left Stamford second bottom of the Evo-Stik NPL Premier and Wilson’s fate was sealed after Saturday’s defeat to Step 4 Carlton Town in the FA Trophy.

The former Corby Town joint-manager was relieved of his duties following a Stamford board meeting on Monday night with the club hoping to make an appointment “very quickly”.

Chairman Bob Feetham said: “The directors felt that, with results failing to make progress, we urgently needed to make a change. Four successive defeats, including the nature of that 2-1 Trophy loss at Carlton Town, started alarm bells ringing.

“This is far from a knee-jerk reaction. NPL survival is of paramount importance and we will now seek someone to quickly scour the market and bring in quality signings who can make a real difference at this level.

“However, we thank Andrew for the energy and commitment he brought to the task and wish him well in the future.”
