GOOLE AFC are on the hunt for a new manager after parting company with Alan Semley following Saturday’s home draw with Tividale.

The Vikings remain just a point above the bottom two after Saturday’s result against a Tividale side who are bottom of the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South.

Goole are winless in ten league games and the club announced that Semley, alongside assistant Keith Mackie, had departed. Reserve team boss Kev Graham has taken temporary charge of the first team while a successor is sought.

Semley said: “Although both myself and Keith are extremely disappointed to not continue to develop this young team, I would like to wish everyone at the club all the best for the future.

“The club has a great set of volunteers and supporters who have always in general backed the team throughout the past 12 months since taking over with four players. There is no doubt under the current tenure Goole will be a success in the future, that is for sure.”

Chairman Steve Shorthouse added: “The decision was a very difficult one. Alan joined us last January with only four players available to him, with a very small budget to play with and was instrumental in playing his part in the club’s survival.

“This season started off very well seeing us as high as sixth in the league at one stage but unfortunately, no wins in nine games sees us very much in a relegation dogfight and the board decided that a change of manager was needed now especially with the league’s transfer window closing soon.

“I would personally like to extend my thanks to Alan and Keith for all the hard work they have done, I am bitterly disappointed for both of them and wish them both well for the future.”
