Cheltenham Town just a game away from making history

CHELTENHAM TOWN head to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday knowing they are just one game away from breaking a club record.

The Robins are currently 20 games unbeaten, equalling the current record from the 1994-95 Southern Premier campaign.

Gary Johnson's side are four points clear of Gloucestershire rivals Forest Green Rovers and avoiding defeat at Tranmere – the last side to beat them in the league in September – will also give the current crop a place in the Robins' record books.

Assistant manager Russell Milton said: “It would be great to make a bit of history, the lads have been brilliant for the whole season.

“Fair play to the boys, they've won games in different ways. Sometimes though and sometimes with battles and scraping one-nils. We've come from behind as well to draw and win games so I take my hat off to them.

“We've just got to continue what we've been doing. Firstly, we've got to keep our work rate up there and it's a really good test for us.

“Tranmere are in form themselves and it's the battle of the two teams that got relegated last year. The main aim is to keep the scoreboard ticking over.”
