BEDWORTH UNITED manager Stuart Storer has thanked the club’s board of directors for sticking by him despite the club’s relegation from the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier.

The Greenbacks were promoted through the Southern Central play-offs last term but have struggled to get going this season and their relegation was confirmed after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bideford.

The surprise 1-0 win at Kettering Town on Tuesday night took them off the bottom of the table but they will be playing Step 4 football against next season.

Two weeks ago the club’s board said: “The directors are fully committed to the long term stability of Bedworth United FC and therefore decided to give their full support to Stuart and his staff.”

A thankful Storer told the club’s website: “The board have been terrific this season and I can’t thank them enough for their support – which has been unrelenting and continued throughout the rollercoaster of a season.

“The Greenbacks board backed me to the hilt despite the fact that we were struggling with injuries and suspensions.

“There was never much doubt that they would not give me their support during difficult times. You do need the board’s backing, especially through tough times.”
