Stourbridge sign three from NPL Premier rivals Rushall Olympic

STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett has raided Evo-Stik NPL Premier rivals Rushall Olympic for three new signings.

Striker Luke Benbow, centre-back Jack Duggan and midfielder Jake Heath have made the switch from the Pics while Hackett has also brought in ex-Halesowen Town, Barwell and Leek Town forward Aaron Daniels.

Benbow is no stranger to the Glassboys having previously played for the club for three seasons before leaving last summer.

He scored 20 times for Rushall last season and Stourbridge will be hoping he can fill the void left by 30-goal Karl Hawley, who has left to take up a coaching role at Mansfield Town.

Hackett told the club’s website: “Luke was very keen to come back, and I’m delighted to get him on board again.

“His last season with us didn’t work out for one reason or another but fit and firing he can be worth 30 goals a season. He’s a top goal-scorer and he’s up for the challenge.”

Ex-Fleetwood Town, Lancaster City and Chester defender Duggan and former Walsall youngster Heath are both joining Benbow at Amblecote.

“Jack will be a great addition,” Hackett added. “We’ve paid a small fee to Rushall to bring him in on a contract and he’s another player who will improve the squad.

“Mark Clifton has known Jake Heath’s dad for a long time, and Jake was keen to join us. He’s an energetic lad and he’ll add something in midfield.”

The last new addition is pacy forward Daniels, who netted against the Glassboys while playing for Halesowen Town last season.

He scored three times for the Yeltz before moving to fellow Evo-Stik NPL Premier side Barwell in January and later Leek Town.

“Aaron has always played well against us and I’ve had an eye on him for a while, so I’m really pleased to bring him on board,” Hackett said.

“I’m hoping to have all four of them in the squad for Saturday’s game at Leamington, although Aaron is on holiday abroad at the moment so his availability depends on him arriving back in time.”
